Welcome!
Kwalata Wilderness comprises 13 000 hectares (32 120 acres) of idyllic terrain set in the heart of the Waterberg mountains in South Africa's Limpopo Province.
Boasting 18 species of antelope and four of the big five, Kwalata is a dream safari holiday destination.
The bushveld forming Kwalata and its surrounds forms part of the UNESCO Waterberg Biosphere Nature Reserve, due to its extensive indigenous forests. This means that Kwalata is not only the premier wildlife area but in fact a sanctuary for rare and endangered animals; it is also one of the world's richest ecosystems.
Kwalata has an abundance of game, allowing you to enjoy the best of absolutely everything. You will view large numbers of plains game such as Eland, Gemsbok, Impala, Waterbuck, Zebra, Blesbuck, Blue Wildebeest and even a few of the rarer species such as Nyala and Sable. In addition Kwalata also has all the big game we love so much, the Elephant, White Rhino, Cape Buffalo and the Leopard. To provide the musical accompaniment to your holiday there are also over 270 bird species and an abundance of indigenous trees. All of this makes Kwalata the ideal place to get as close to nature as humanly possible. So whether you want to soak up the spectacular views, marvel at the prolific birdlife or savour the diverse and rare flora, Kwalata is "where the real Africa begins".
The Waterberg Mountain range is one of South Africa's lesser-known geographical wonders. The range is bluish in colour and offers spectacular views, lush valleys and peace and quiet away from overcrowded tourist centres. This area is steeped in history that dates back to the stone-age. Few places in the world will touch and inspire you as this beautiful land will. For the tourist there is a solid infrastructure and modern conveniences abound.
Whether this is your first trip to Africa or you are a seasoned regular, there is plenty to keep you occupied, whatever your mood. Choose from game drives in our open top four-wheel-drive vehicles, which allow completely unobstructed views, quad biking or if you prefer just relax while taking in the panoramic view from a cliff top pool.
Kwalatas team of professional staff are trained to guide and assist in every aspect of your stay with us. Luxurious accommodation, helpful staff and a professional chef will ensure you are comfortable throughout your stay at Kwalata.
