Kwalata was started by
the late Heinz Heuser in 1988. Driven by his passion for nature it
has grown into a premier hunting destination in South Africa. He
believed in the beauty of the area so much that together with Clive
Walker from Lapalala Wilderness and Dave Metphin Touchstone, he
started the waterberg conservancy, which led to the Biosphere
Reserve being born.
The property has been passed
down to his son Reinhard who continues to make sure that the farm is
run with the highest integrity. "Kwalata is my home that I love and
have known most of my life, the business is driven by passion and it
is this passion that we will put into the holiday that you share
with us."
Southern Africa really is
incredibly diverse in landscape, wildlife and in culture, the real
Africa begins with Kwalata.
Kwalata is situated in the
heart of a biosphere reserve in the magical Waterberg region of the
Limpopo Province. This means that Kwalata is not only the premier
wildlife area, in fact a sanctuary for rare and endangered animals,
it is also one of the worlds richest ecosystems.
As a result, Kwalata has an
abundance of game, allowing you to enjoy the best of absolutely
everything. You will view a huge amount of Plains Game such as
Eland, Gemsbuck, Impala, Waterbuck, Zebra, Blesbuck, Blue Wildebeest
and even a few of the rarer species such as Nyala and the Tsesebe.
In addition Kwalata also has all the big game we love so much, the
Elephant, White Rhino, Cape Buffalo and the Leopard. To provide the
musical accompaniment to your holiday there are also over 270 bird
species. The thriving vegetation includes a huge diversity of plants
and an abundance of indigenous trees. All of this makes Kwalata the
ideal place to get as close to nature as humanly possible. So
whether you want to soak up the spectacular views, marvel at the
prolific birdlife or savour the diverse and rare flora Kwalata is
where the real africa begins.
Wheter this is your first
trip to Africa or you are a seasoned regular, there is plenty to
keep you occupied, whatever your mood. Choose from game drives in
our open top four-wheel-drive vehicles which allow completely
unobstructed views, horse rides to suit all levels of riders or
guided nature hikes with a highly skilled ranger. Or if you prefer
just relax while taking in the panoramic view from the cliff top
pool.
In the Bushveld region of
the Northern Province getting away from it all becomes easy and
enticing, the natural beauty and startling diversity of the bushveld
Savannah and very large animal population will entrance you, it also
houses the magnificent Waterberg Mountain range.
The Waterberg Mountain range
is one of South Africa's lesser-known geographical wonders. The
range is bluish in colour and offers spectacular views, lush valleys
and peace and quiet away from overcrowded tourist centres. This area
is steeped in history that dates to the stone-age. Nestled in and
around this superb range are many game reserves and conservation
areas waiting to be discovered by nature lovers wanting to view both
the natural beauty and the many diverse animals that Africa has
living in their natural habitat.
Few places in the world will
touch and inspire as this beautiful land will. For the tourist there
is a solid infrastructure and modern conviences abound. |
